Is The Bible A Mystery???

Do you think the Bible is a mystery?
Many churches actually teach that.
For this reason, those who attend often only listen and believe as truth, what they hear taught from the pulpit.
I wonder if you are one of those??
It's amazing how many are.

I was in a Supermarket one day when a woman tried to tell me that the prayers she recites daily are all from a certain New Testament book.
Absolutely, Not True... Only one of the prayers were, and that was 'The Lords Prayer.'
This caused me to wonder again??
When most people today are literate,  why don't they read the Bible for themselves???
It is so full of exciting news.       That's why we Christians call it, The Truth'!!'

During my recent trip to far North Queensland, I met up with a wonderful Bible Scholar again, by the name of Val Pym...
What an intelligent humble lady.

Val has written another book and called it..
The Other Bible Code.
It is so easy to read, and very simply explained...
Wooooooooo Hoooooooooo!!
Even I can understand it.
It is great!!
It puts together, from the Old and New Testament, Gods plan for man.
As you begin to read, the lights will turn on..
Ahh... Why didn't I see this before...
Well, let me tell you.
The Devil does a great job of tricking and deceiving..
And that's why we get all caught up in what we think We Have To Do.
Instead of realising.....It Is Already Done!!
Thank You Jesus!!

God Bless you Val.. I am proud to be counted your friend.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.
This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Mary Hawkins Australian Inspirational Author

Please meet Mary Hawkins, a sweet lady, author, wife of a retired minister, mother and Follower of Jesus.

Last weekend I had the privilege to meet Mary at a Faith writers workshop in Brisbane.
Such a natural friendly radiating Christian, her light shines.

Mary a retired registered nurse has been writing inspirational romance for the past twenty years. Understanding the difficulties entailed in how to write and sell your book, Mary is all too keen to encourage new inspiring authors (like myself).
She shared an accumulation of knowledge and experience, for which I for one, truly appreciated.

She signed her latest book "Return to Baragula" personally for me.
For anyone who may be interested in reading more on the Australian outback and way of life, this book is available from Amazon.com.
The story is about love, forgiveness and God's Amazing grace.

So come visit the outback in story.

Walk down a road of love and life.

DEPRESSION, the dreaded Blackness

When I returned to nursing in 1994 I never expected to specialise in the field of Mental Health.
It was the furthest place I wanted to be. Life was difficult enough without the added trauma of dealing with difficult people.
Yet my placement demanded I be rotated in different sections of the hospital.
From day one I formed a love for these hurting human beings.
In all my time working in psychiatry I was never threatened hurt or harmed, yet many nurses are. I believe the reason why was because I always showed a genuine respect and care. In return I received the same. There is much I could write about, however I would simply like to hit on one area…….. Depression.

During my research and studies I learned that by the year 2021 the largest debilitating contributor to disease would be depression……
and I believe this to be so.

Depression and the road out…

One of America’s greatest Presidents suffered from all consuming depression. Born into a poor family he felt life was against him.
His one true love died an untimely death and he failed at work prospects.
In one of his darkest hours he wrote the following.
“I am now the most miserable man living.
If what I feel were equally distributed to the whole human family, there would be not one cheerful face on earth.
Whether I shall be better, I cannot tell.
I awfully, forebode I shall not.
I must die, or be better it appears to me.”

Well we all know this man survived and went on to greatness.
His name was Abraham Lincoln.

For everyone who has suffered from or still suffering depression you will know how seemingly hopeless this subject can appear.

For that reason I am recommending a book that is the best I have ever read.
Written by a medical doctor, Neil Nedley M.D, who uses a different approach, and successfully treats many patients!  I cannot recommend it enough.
He does NOT apply a band-aid effect....of "here take this medication" solution..
But gets down to the root issues of how and why.
Diets and light is used to nourish and stimulate the brain to wellness......

Read it for yourself!  and be encouraged! There is help!
AND please give me your honest opinion after your finished.

 Psalms 55:17
"Evening and morning and at noon, I will pray and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice."

Heroines of Christ

We all have people we look up to and desire to be like. The memory of three women remain encased in my mind.
My first heroine was the writer Catherine Marshall. Catherine became famous with her second book, "A Man called Peter."
She wrote the story in honour of her famous husbands life.
Peter Marshall was a preacher in the United States Senate.
He died at a relatively young age. Catherine was devistated yet necessity demanded she earn a living to provide for her son Peter John.
Many have come to the Lord through her books.
Her message to me was, "Never Give Up.

Quoting Catherine:
"No matter how little you have. You can still give some away."

My second treasured lady was Corrie Ten Boom.
When my mother gave me the book, "The Hiding Place,"  I wanted none of it. Such sadness!
It told of Corrie Ten Boom and her Dutch family.
During World War11 they took in, protected and hid Jewish families, helping many to escape to safety.
Due to this, the family were sent to dreaded Auschwitz.
Only Corrie survived to return home.
Yet through the terror and pain I discovered....
This lady's ability to forgive and love others.
She taught that, until the day she died.

Quoting Corrie,
"If you look at the world you will be distressed.
If you look within you'll be depressed.
If you look to God, you'll be at rest."

My third Jewel needs no introduction.
She was Mother Teresa. The devine light who walked the earth in splendid charity.
I watched a movie on her life as acted by Geraldine Chaplin, Charlie's daughter.
It was an eye opener of self denial....and a life devoted to others.
She was the hands, feet and mouth of Our Lord.
From her I learned, "Humility, Wisdom and Selflessness.

Quoting Mother Teresa,
"When a person dies of hunger it did not happen because God did not take care of them.
It happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what they needed."

Myself, "Being a Christian doesn't depend on attending meetings, but rather on loving and serving others. Walk the walk!"

ESPECIALLY FOR WOMEN

Praise of a Good Woman

Proverbs 31
10 Who can find a virtuous woman?
For her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him  good and not evil
all the days of her life.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household,
and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously,
but thou excellest them  all.

30 Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands;
and let her own works reveal her

As Christian women  we are all aware of the above Scripture.
And we all desire to walk in the above perfection, no matter how  PAINFUL....

HOWEVER.... Life is not always, a bunch of sweet smelling roses.
And we walk around day after day wearing a mask of what or who, we are suppose to be. .
Mechanically we talk, laugh and perform  at the right times, and none are aware of the gnawing grief behind the facade.

Is this you I am  talking about?
At times, it has been me.

I have just returned from  a wonderful Ladies Retreat..
A special time, a time preserved under the Heavens.
A time of leaving our homes and families behind so that we could take time to re-freshen our weary souls.

The teaching focus was on WOUNDS !
The Emotional, Mental and Spiritual WOUNDS of life.
As humans we all respond to kindness and understanding.
Sharing, talking and listening to each other, are all inspirational gifts of healing. Knowing someone understands and cares takes away the isolation of suffering in silence.

Our leader, an American lass gave her own testimony.  It touched all present in various ways.
She spoke of  applying the Armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) each morning in preparation for the daily assault from  satan, to ward off, his fiery darts.
I used to do this.   And will begin again!
You know, " we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers in high places." Ephesians 2:12

Everyone has a story, you the reader, have yours.  Don't suffer alone. Find a counsellor and talk about it.
Jesus is the lover of your soul He cares.... just turn to Him  in prayer. He is that close.

Together we share,  Vickie,  Crystal Mary, Daniella (my daughter)

Can You Pass The Love Test?

A LOVE LAB?

In 1986, Dr. John Gottman joined the University of Washington Department of Psychology and started the Family Research Laboratory

This received funding from the National Institute of Mental Health throughout it’s operation. The physiology laboratory, often referred to as the “Love Lab,” was where couples were screened, interviewed, and observed.

The Lab used video, heart rate monitors, and measures of pulse amplitude, jitteriness and skin conductivity. This information was coded using the Specific Affect Coding System (SPAFF) and techniques of math modelling to assess relationships and predict their pathways. The Lab combined a video data bank of hundreds of couples interacting at different time points in their relationship.

The data surveyed could evaluate whether or not couples had the love combination to sucessfully remain in a relationship together.
