Week in Review for August 24-28 (First week)

WEEK 1 in reviewWe started our new Homeschool year this August 24th. We took a month off and we needed it! The month off gave me an opportunity to review what I wanted to use for curriculum. To see what we are using, click here.

The boys are doing some subjects together such as Art, Science, and Bible lessons. My sons enjoy learning together and I am glad that they do.

A day in the Life of Homeschooling with Special Needs

We are participating in a "Not Back to School Blog Hop" sponsored by Darcy at Life with my 3 Boybarians each Monday in August. This week is "a day in the life week." Here is a day in the life of our family homeschool.
We homeschool in the late afternoon and evenings. DH works late night and it works for us. Our mornings are for family time, appointments, or therapy. Mornings are also good for

Website of the week: Stickers and Charts

StickersandCharts.com is this site I found a few weeks ago when I was searching for ideas to make a weather chart for our calendar math area at home. You don't have to print the printables on sticker sheets. I printed mine on plain copy paper, cut them, and glued them to card stock (you can glue them to construction paper too). This site hassports stickers and chartsSmiley stickers and stamp

Meet my Monkeys (my sons)

We are participating in a "Not Back to School Blog Hop" sponsored by Darcy at Life with my 3 Boybarians each Monday in August. This week the Darcy has asked everyone to show off their kids for photo week!
I am the proud mom to two very active boys. They keep me on my toes often and it shows sometimes in our blog. My sons are five years apart. How I would love them to be closer in age but even

Schooling in a small space

We are participating in a "Not Back to School Blog Hop" sponsored by Darcy at Life with my 3 Boybarians each Monday in August. This week the topic is school rooms. We live in a small space, a 2 bedroom 800 square foot apartment. It is 898 square feet if you count our outdoor patio area. Since we have two small bedrooms, we use our dining room and living area as our homeschool space; however we

My Trash to Treasure Bulletin Board (Seasons Tree)

When you homeschool in small space like us, you have to think of creative ways to use space. This week we have been getting our homeschool space ready for our first day which is August 17th. Some of our purchased curriculum arrived earlier this month and after opening the box we were left with this...packing material.

Rather then throw away the packing material (brown paper) I decided to

Wednesday "Birds"

Wednesday "Birds"

There is much wonder and joy in a birds song.....
In the beginning God created the world! His love reached out and provided us with costless joys through our 5 senses. Hear a song, see colour, smell a flower, feel life, taste fruit. While I sit here writing I can hear the birds. Their endless chatter begins early in the morning as they raid our flowering front trees and carries on during the day. Delectably enjoying sweet luscious mandarins unreachable by us outback in our tree. Kookaburra's ignite in laughter when something tickles and the magpie, variates between a yodel and a song. My husband Raymond grabs his camera to capture a moment in time as a bird entertains unknowingly. What a sad world it would be without birds and colour. Without flowers and fruit for them to feed off.
Without a heart that feels the joy and without a camera to capture and hold the moment.

Our plans: Curriculum

We are participating in a "Not Back to School Blog Hop" sponsored by Darcy at Life with my 3 Boybarians each Monday in August. This week's discussion is about curriculum.

Well, we made changes in our homeschooling materials from last year. This year we added purchased curriculum while still using free online resources. This is my three and a half year old son's first year homeschooling and he is

Tuesday "My sister"

Tuesday "My sister"

Standing on our driveway I watched as the caravan and car carrying my sister turn the corner and disappeared from sight. A week together of sharing, talking and laughter was over as if they had never been. All that was left were the tyre imprints from her 4wd left on the side lawn. My sister Janiece has been the mainstay of my life. She is my best friend and a rock of Christian faith. Almost 6 years my senior it is she who has encouraged me in my darkest hours and lighten my heartaches with her words of wisdom. Married to Max for 45 years they walk together holding hands like a couple on honeymoon. Still in love, each thinking and helping to balance the other. Yet life hasn't been perfect for her, she has had her own tribulations. When the storms of life have buffeted she has simply sat at the feet of Jesus rubbed His feet lovingly with salve and refreshed her own soul. I love and salute my precious sister and I thank God for giving her to me. She is a rich blessing, a jewel, and a shining star.

A Homeschool Family

I saw this today and had to share. Made me smile and laugh at the same time. Enjoy!

Noah's Ark Lapbook

Although I have not covered a Noah's Ark lesson with my sons, I plan to. I made this lapbook yesterday for my older sister who asked me if I could make a Bible Activity lapbook for her church's toddler bible class. I will be making another one like this with my sons later this month. As you can see this lapbook opens vertically as opposed to the other lapbooks we have made. I used a blue file

H is for Home

I meant to post this earlier last month and forgot while we were taking a summer break from homeschooling. We did a two week theme on H is for Home. We read books, made crafts, played games and learned about different types of homes that families live in and animals too.
Here's some of what we did during our two weeks! We started our week learning about the letter H. For a Phonics activity, we

Honest Scrap Award
