Nature Study: Squirrels in Spring

This week we began our Nature Study on Flowers but on Monday we could not help but find that squirrels were interested in us during our time outdoors on the patio. We started observing them over the weekend. (we had been studying them in the Fall and in Winter).

It appears there are a total of five squirrels residing between the two trees by our apartment. One of them appears to be a female. She

Sad Story: The Bridge Master and His Son

Holidays can be the most dispairing time, when you are alone.
When you can hear and see others together with loved ones...yet you have no-one.
Jesus loves you so much, that He gave His life for you.
This video explains it in a modern day story. It will capture your mind.... Give Him.....your heart.
He loves you like none other.
Seek out a church to attend and worship. Tell God's people if you are lonely.. and allow yourself to be loved.
YOU ARE WORTHY!! JESUS DIED FOR YOU!

Small delay in posting

I will be posting our Monday Nature Study on Thursday. I need to take some time off to recuperate. I had a terrible fall Late Monday night. I landed on my right hip, leg and knee. I almost fell forward but turned to avoid landing on my left knee (which is recovering from a meniscus tear). No broken bones but I am black and blue all over and using a quad cane to get around. We did not do any

"COWGATE" the Latest Global Warming Scandal

Here we go again! The United Nation's Panel on Climate Change has shit-in-it's-bed again! They have already been discredited with the dying Polar Bears myth, the Arctic ice that went missing but was actually there (once the satellite was fixed), the disappearing Himalayan glaciers forecast, the Amazon rain forest disappearing, and the best one yet (just last November).... "ClimateGate" where the scientists in the Climate Research Centre at East Anglia University had their conspiratorial Emails hacked and their data fudging was exposed. There are now calls for the resignation of IPCC head Rajendra Pachauri since he has obviously turned a blind eye to procedures and allowed scientific fraud to occur right under his nose.

Now another claim by global warming alarmists has destroyed our confidence further --this time with assertions about the role livestock play in producing greenhouse gases. Yes...cattle farts and belches came under scrutiny in 2006 in a United Nations report entitled "Livestock's Long Shadow" claimed that "the livestock sector is a major player, responsible for 18% of greenhouse gas missions. This is a higher share than transport." Nobody questioned it!

This led to demands for a "Cow Tax" in the U.S. and a campaign in Europe last year called "Less Meat = Less Heat." Even the Vegans jumped on the bandwagon hoping to push their own, but unwinable, agenda. Now Dr Frank Mitloehner, an air quality expert at the University of California calls the United Nation's Report "scientifically inaccurate."

In a report to the American Chemical Society, he reveals that the U.N. added all the greenhouse gas emissions associated with meat production including fertilizer use, land clearance, production of feed, milk processing and vehicle use on farms to get the highest possible result. But the transport figure included only the burning of fossil fuels, resulting in an "apples and oranges analogy that truly confused the issue, " Mitloeher disclosed.

In fact, just 3% of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. are attributable to the raising of cows and pigs, compared to 26% from transport, according to Mitloehner. "It is becoming difficult to keep pace with the speed at which the global warming scam is now unraveling," writes Gerald Warner of Britain's Daily Telegraph. The Washington Times has called this "Cowgate." I also hear that Al Gore is shocked by the "Great Cool-Down" the northern hemisphere experienced this past winter. I'm sure we won't be hearing this from Al himself.

A Chilli Story

I wonder if like me, you like eating chillies in your food.

There is good nutrician in Chilli.
They increase your metabolism and improve your circulation... WONDERFUL!
Because they.....have the ability to burn out fatty cells.

While living in the U.S. I often frequented 'Wendy's' for the chilli (mince. tomato and beans).
It's delicious alone or on top of their baked potato. It's also low in fat, high in fibre and low in calories.
My mouth waters at the memory.
                                  I now have the recipe..

Chilli's are said to have the potential to fight off diseases such as diabetis (helps lower the need for insulin post meal ingestion) and prostate cancer. (American Journal of Clinical Nutrician)
* * Please check with your doctor and don't stop using insulin.

Also shown to alleviate pain from shingles and sinus.
PLUS, is said to kill 75% of food bacteria.

Bring on the Chilli!!

More Purple!

So I mentioned that during Spring Break I stopped at Ulta, which I had never been to before. I hadn't even planned on going to Ulta, but on the way to the Imax theater we passed by one and after getting tickets and 3-d glasses we had some time to kill. So after convincing 2 men that there would be guy stuff too (there wasn't), and after crossing the stoplight-less and pedestrian-awareness-is-apparently-optional Highway of Death, I made it. And it was heaven. So much polish! So much hair stuff! So much makeup! So many sales!!! I bought a bunch of the 2 dollar Ultas. My favorite was the line up of about 6 shades of coral. It's like they heard I was coming and made a display just for me! Today I pulled out a medium purple cream (which I can't remember the name of). It's right in between ChG Spontaneous and Grape Pop, but of course try telling my camera that! It's a true purple, not the blurple you're seeing.

Application was a roller coaster ride of emotion for me. While the formula applied just fine and the brush was neither amazing nor sucky, I had major issues with little fuzzies. After 2 coats the color was perfectly opaque but the finish looked like I had sat like a statue for a week and let dust collect on me! There was much cursing. I reached for the acetone, but somehow talked myself off the ledge and put on SV. And surprisingly, it came out fine. So I'm not really sure if this is what all the polishes are like, or maybe it's just the cream ones, or maybe it was my fault (though I'm discounting that, I'm pretty awesome :P), but since my nails look okay I'm not going to condemn this polish.

Week in Review for March 22-27, 2010

Week 23This week took off for our own "Spring break" but the boys wanted to still do our Nature Studies so we started a study on Flowers. We read books on Spring and gardening. We planted our plants and flowers in containers for our patio garden and then had lunch all week on the patio. We grew onion sprouts for science and learned about growing sprouts from fruits and vegetables. We ended our

Obama Can't See the Koran is a Killer!

President Obama's praise of Islam is putting America in danger! According to him the Koran promotes peace and tolerance for Muslims and non-Muslims. That is a dangerous misrepresentation of this inherently violent and undemocratic text....I know I've read it. I doubt if Obama or his cabinet cronies have read it because his public utterances exposes how his naive interpretation of the Koran actually encourages terrorism and anti-American sentiment---putting us at greater risk for another terrorist attack.

After studying the Koran and cutting through the jungle (and jumble) of disconnected chapters I found the over 400 shocking decrees to hate, maim and kill Jews and Christians. Also, the other religions will fare even worse in what the Muslims want to do to them to guarantee Muslim world supremacy. Of course it's all Allah's fault for saying these things in the form of delusional ravings by the angel Gabrielle that Muhammad had from the age of 40 that were written down and eventually became the Koren.

In reading Muhammad's biography you see the mean streak come out gradually as he wanders around Arabia telling villagers he's the new (improved & better) prophet of God (Allah). After he is completely rebuffed and fobbed off by the pagans, polytheists, Christian and Jewish villagers he conveniently gets a fresh vision that tells him "to strive hard (jahidi, a verbal form of the noun jihad) against the unbelievers and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell, an evil refuge indeed" So he attacks them with a large group of believers (booty-loving thugs) and subjugates people all across Arabia and each time he makes the survivors an offer they can't refuse:
1) Believe in me and follow Allah's teachings I have brought to you and you will live.
2) Continue to believe in your God but you will pay an Infidel's Tax (jizya) to live as dhimmis in your newly conquered village/town as a way of "showing your submission and obedience".
3) And if that's still not to your liking.....you will be killed!
+ CAN YOU IMAGINE JESUS SAYING THIS ???

As Muhammad and his new found believers grew in strength the Koran now directed Muslims explicitly to make war against and subjugate Jews and Christians further afield. "Allah commanded His messenger to fight the People of the Scriptures (Jews & Christians) and he prepared his army to fight the Romans (Byzantines) and calling His people to Jihad". This great empire the Muslims would chip away at for centuries and ultimately destroy. They got as far as Spain and the gates of Vienna before Pope Urban, in 1095, finally said "enough is enough" and started the first of seven Crusades over 200 years that ousted them and their nasty religion out of Europe. Once again, the Bible would reign supreme as the source of the Western ideas of love, charity, justice and reason.

The way I see it...if our governing officials and media spokesmen continue to be so Politically Correct and ignore my warnings to speak out against the Koran's teachings and what's taught in our country's mosques, they do so at their own risk. These Islamic jihadists are not ignoring what's in the Koran, and are working to destroy our freedoms in obedience to Koranic dictates. So when Obama is seen on world-wide television genuflecting in front of a Saudi Arabian ruler, as he did last year, he is giving a clear encouragement to every Muslim not to respect him or what the United States stands for and emboldening the radicals and their moderate Muslim sympathizers (found in every Western country), to further acts of hate and terror in hoping to bring down the West. More on this later.

Note: I recommend you get and read The Complete Infidel's Guide to the Koran by Robert Spencer: Regnery Publishers

The glitter... it's multiplying! Hide the children!!!

I wanted a quick and lazy mani that I wouldn't have to clean up or worry about the finish on, so I pulled out ChG Flyin' High and Medallion. Cream is usually my favorite finish, but for once I didn't want to have to obsess about my every move just to make sure I get a flawless finish. 1 coat of Flyin' High and 1 coat of Medallion was the plan. I did this late at night, slapped on some SV and went to bed... and woke up nearly blind. I do not remember there being that much glitter! Other than the problem of my glitter mating like bunnies when I'm not watching, I really like this look. Turquoise and gold is so cute!

I love the little holo pieces mixed in the gold!

Growing Onions

This week the boys and I started planting plants and flowers in containers for our patio garden. We also had time to grow one of Dad's favorite veggies... onions. We has bought some onions for our cookout the previous week and wrapped the remainder of the onion in a plastic bag to see it if would sprout. Within a week, it did so we planted the bulb with its sprout in a pot. It started growing. My

"Planting a Rainbow:" a craft and gardening

Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert. This book describes in the story the process of how a garden grows from selecting, purchasing and planting bulb and seeds. The story begins in the Fall where different kinds of bulbs are planted. Seeds are ordered and planted then throughout the year after months of waiting, seeing work done by rain and sun through the seasons, they watch the rainbow grow. Our

Lemming List

Anyone else have frequent dreams about a polish that's on your mind? I keep thinking about how bummed I am I missed the first RBL pre-sale, and last night I had a dream that I was wearing Diddy Mow. Waking up was a disappointment, lol. So I'm not going to post my entire lemming list, because there are hundreds (just like every other nail fanatic lol!), but these are a bunch of new polishes that I keep thinking about:

RBL Surf's Up: I'm still undecided on Bangin' but the other 2 are SO going to be my b-day presents!

OPI's Shrek Collection: I really wanted to like more of it, but the 2 purples look exactly like the 2 from Up & Away. And after seeing swatches on THIS blog I don't know if I can wear Goose Poop (LMAO!). But What's with the Cattitude, Who the Shrek are You? and Ogre the Top Blue all won me over!

Essie Resort Collection: WTF Essie that's not pink or red or sheer or boring?! Sold! Lapis of Luxary, Splash of Grenadine and Turquoise and Caicos are instant winners! I'm really hoping some swatches turn up soon, because I'm little confused why they would call the green Turquoise when it looks not very turquoise-y. I'm still not sold on the other one, Playa del Platinum, because I heard it's supposed to be a sheer, but it might be a nice neutral for summer.

China Glaze Vintage Vixen: When I first saw pictures of Up & Away, I freaked out and declared it Best Collection Evar. But even with this picture being the only thing I've seen, I think Vintage Vixen has it beat! This is the collection for Fall, which is rumored to be coming out in August, and it's all glitter, glitter, and more sparkly glittah!! Based on this picture (found here) and the names alone I need them all. So friggen gorgeous!

What upcoming or newly released colors are you crazy about?

FANTASY SEA WORLD * *

En-route back home from the U.S. by air we approached the top-end of the Queensland coastline. I stared down through the clouds in fascination.

“What on earth is that?” I questioned the passenger beside me.
The panorama presented in the water far below resembled millions of coloured jewels sprinkled in various sized clusters.
“Why that’s the coral, we’re over the Reef.” I was stared at as if, ‘and where have you been??’

I did feel slightly embarrassed; after all, an Ozzie should recognise their own Country shouldn’t they? But, I didn’t know I was home, plus, I’d never viewed it by air.
The varied coloured coral looked awesome and intriguing. A wonderland to millions of marine creatures….

Facts: It covers 2,300 sq kilometres and has 1500 species of marine fish. 3,600 species of hard coral, 600 species of starfish, sea urchins and sea cucumber. 500 species of seaweed with whales, dolphins and dugongs. 6 species of turtles. And, 125 species of sharks.

Psalms 19:1 “The Heavens declare the Glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork.”   I am breathless!!

Our Garden Plants this Spring

Earlier this weekend we planted some flowers for our patio garden. We recently added plants to our garden as well.I already had one of my oldest plants that I grew from a 4 inch pot. My Hawaiian Schefflera. It is over 22 years old. It originally had more leaves but during the winter when I had it indoors, my plant suffered at the hands of my preschooler! We added this Spring, a purple primrose on

First Spring Weekend: Gardening

After two trips last week to the garden nursery, we had a good selection to begin our family Spring gardening project. The boys helped me selection some full sun and shade loving plants and flowers for our outdoor patio. We transplanted over the weekend some bedding flowers that we thought would look nice and could tolerate dealing with only morning sun. We chose Celosia and Salvia for our small

ULURU EXPERIENCE

I had no desire to go and see Uluru, Ayers Rock in central Australia.
All the photo's I'd seen did nothing to pursued me. Who wanted to look at a rock? how boring!

But....from the first moment I approached the Rock, driving along the road and into a closer proximity, I was enthralled.
It is so huge rising from nowhere out of the dessert landscape.
A physical phenomenon that dominates and captures your mind in a spiritual experience. You look and look, not wanting it to withdrawl from your vision.

Tourists gather at varies times during the day, particually at sunrise and sunset, to capture the change in colours. Not only of the Rock but also the surrounding sky overhead.
I wasn't there at sunrise but I took this photo at sunset as the Rock turned from sandstone to brilliant orange.
The encounter was as if from another time.... MESMERISING.
Words cannot describe my feelings resulting from this encounter.

What my child is reading for March 15 -20, 2010

This past week we read books about Ireland and learned the story of St. Patrick. We concluded our a two week study on the Ireland this week. We found some wonderful books on the Saint Patrick. people of Ireland, and the symbols of Ireland. The boys enjoyed the majority of books we read and we have more of a appreciation of my husband's Irish Heritage and for St. Patrick's day.BOOKS WE READHere are

COLOUR YOUR LIFE

While black and white photographs have an antique quality and are wonderful to look at… I am sure no one would be happy to live… in a colourless world.

Can you imagine not being able to see the wonderful autumn tones in this picture? Without colour it expresses loneliness, isolation, emptiness and depression.

On the other hand colour depicts joy, fun, sharing and life.

The first expression of colour in the Bible was the Rainbow. A multicoloured arch glorifying the sky with its beauty. God is the author of colour. He gave it to us not only as a promise but as refreshment for our soul.

A beautiful garden full of colour lifts your spirits, making you feel free and glad.

The beautiful Rainbow Lorikeets dominate my garden. There’re plumage is a joy to behold.
I cannot imagine them in Black and white; it would take away all their character.

Colour reflects the way you feel. It encourages health and wellbeing.
Be happy.....and ...Colour your life with Rainbows……….

Did NOT fall in a lake...

It's been a long and fun Spring Break! I'm sad it's over, but I need to get a new mani!! I've been wearing RBL Recycle since Tuesday night. Between St. Paddy's day, going to Minneapolis, then making a trip to Duluth, I didn't have a spare second to even take a picture so I did this afternoon. While putting it on, I wasn't super impressed with the RBL brush, it didn't make application the easiest. But I'm seriously amazed at how this thing wore on my nails. This picture is after 5 showers, a combined 2 hours swimming and another 3 or so hours in hot tubs, PLUS many many hours playing slot machines and all I have some normal tip wear and zero chipping. Very nice, RBL!

I also ventured for the first time in to Ulta and picked up a bunch of the Ulta brand NP, stopped by Sephora (which I haven't been to in 2 years! Far to long) and picked up several $OPI's, and came home to 3 swap packages, so I have too many new colors to choose from... I can hardly contain my excitement!

Nothing Man-Made About Global Warming!

The way I see it, after reading extensively all the scientific literature (pro and con) about global warming, it's not so much our fault but the fault of the IPCC, Al Gore and his environmental friends that are dumping a lot of misread, miscalculated and mistrustful facts on us to make us feel like Eco-Sinners!

The real picture is coming out that global warming is a natural response to cloud changes associated with cosmic ray intensity and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO). Firstly, a recent book written by Henrik Svensmark, a climate physicist from Denmark, explains his findings that the interplay of the clouds, the Sun and cosmic rays seems to have more effect on the climate than man-made carbon dioxide. His research at the Danish Space Center has shown that during the last 100 years cosmic rays became scarcer because unusually vigorous action by the Sun repelled them away from Earth. Fewer cosmic rays meant fewer clouds and a warmer world.

Secondly, Roy W. Spencer, Ph.D says that a simple climate model forced by satellite-observed changes in the Earth's radiative budget associated with the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) is shown to mimic the major rises and falls of global average temperature change during the 20th Century - the latest warming cycle finishing in the late 1990's. The PDO is described as a long-lived El Nino pattern of northern Pacific variability which creates ocean temperature anomalies. This mostly-natural source of global warming is also consistent with mounting observational evidence that the climate system is much less sensitive to carbon dioxide emissions than the IPCC's climate models simulate.

Thirdly, to top off this case against the Climate Change Fraud. the famous MIT Professor of atmospheric physics, Dr Robert Lindzen mentioned recently, that once again the IPCC's climate assumptions on their computer models does not take into account the atmosphere's influence at all and reports that his findings show that over the past 100 years man's contribution to global warming amounts to a HALF of a Degree! He says we have been in a cooling cycle the past 10 years and the continuing dire global warming warnings are wishful thinking.

The way I see it....is that people should take Gore's movie, with it's proven 35 lies, errors and omissions, the IPCC and the many groups of Eco-fascist "WATERMELONS" (Green on the outside but Red on the inside) prognostications with a grain of salt....and don't trade-in your SUV just yet.

Week in Review for March 15–20, 2010

Week 22This week we concluded our two week study on Ireland. We learned about St. Patrick and the importance of St. Patrick's day, made a rainbow indoors as our science experiment, read some wonderful books about the country of Ireland and made a few crafts. We had a fabulous St. Patrick's day dinner with friends at home. For those who do not know: My sons are nicknamed “Turtle” age 4 and “

UNIQUELY CREATED

Genesis 1:27 says," God created man in His image.........
Male and female,  He made them.

There is much controversy over this passage.
For if God created the human race like himself, was it His physical self OR His spiritual self?
Of course, when God did create man/woman, He created a perfect being...both physically and spiritually.
But then this was prior the fall.... when man sinned ... and change came...

I firmly believe that God did create the human family.... although many may argue.

I do not believe we simply evolved!
How could we?? we are too intergretly and completly finished.

Anyone with a medical background, will realise this more than most.

Here are some of our unique qualities.

* Every square inch of the body has approx 19,000,000 skin cells.
* Every hour one billion cells in the body must be replaced.
* The largest cell in the human body is the female egg, the smallest is the male sperm.
* Side by side, 2,000 cells from the human body could cover about one sq inch.
* At the moment of conception, you spend about half an hour as a single cell.
* We contain approx 37,000 miles of capillaries.
* The small intestine measures approx 2" round and 22' long.
* We produce 1-3 pints of saliva every 24 hours.
* Our heart pumps almost 8 pints of blood around the body in one minute!
* Our heart is approx the size of our fist, and weighs less than one pound.
* Our brain can hold five times as much information as the Encyclopedia Brittanica.
* Our right lung takes in more air than the left (it's smaller)
* We require 88 pounds of Oxygen per day. (breath fresh air, stop smoking)
* Our stomach has to produce a new layer of mucus every two weeks otherwise it will digest itself.
* Our thumb is the same length as our nose, at second joint.

And...... MUSIC CAN REDUCE CHRONIC PAIN BY MORE THAN 20%
IT CAN ALEVIATE DEPRESSION BY UP TO 25%.

Interesting isn't it.... God created us beautifully!
Oh....I could have said much more...LOL

About St. Patrick

This week we have been reading about St. Patrick and found out about his life and devotion to God. We were surprised to learn that St. Patrick was not born Ireland but in the British Isles around the year 385. He grew up as a Roman. There was not much written about him as a youth and some believe his name was Maewyn Succat. We found out that at the age of 16, he was kidnapped from his home and

Flu Shot Warning !!

I was just thinking that once again we are being assailed by medical fear mongers about the coming of this year's Killer Flu! Especially now that they say the Swine Flu is making a come-back adding a double threat to all our lives. In reality, as of this week, the Global Influenza Surveillance Network announced that H1N1 virus transmission and circulation remained low throughout the world. The pandemic is not a real concern.

The real truth about seasonal flu shots is this: The world's leading immunogenetist, Dr H. Fudenburg, says that older persons who have had 5 consecutive flu shots....have a 10 times higher chance of getting Alzheimer's Disease than if they had no shots.

Why? It's due to the mercury (as a preservative no less!) and aluminium compounds resident in every flu shot that gradually builds up in the brain cells, causing cognitive dysfunction. He adds, "Most studies over-estimate flu vaccination's benefits." This is a diplomatic way of saying...it's useless!

Lately, the Swine Flu shot is causing concern among the medical profession as reports of terrible side effects are coming in across the globe. The worst one is Gillian-Barre Syndrome, an autoimmune disease, provoked by the adjuvents (chemicals in the shot to "excite" the immune system to respond to the injected virus particle). In many people this sets off the immune system to attack it's own peripheral nerve system causing eye problems, leg weakness and breathing difficulty that can lead to death. High doses of Immunoglobulin can stop it but recovery times can take 12 months or more...if ever!

In fact, when the Swine Flu came to the United States in 1976, the mandatory vaccination of the population ended up causing more deaths from Gillian-Barre than died of the Swine Flu. Beware!

What a treat!

The boys and I have been feeling like we are getting "cabin fever" in our home so Hubby suggested we go out for a late lunch and while we are out we are going to the garden nurseries to get some flowers and plants for our patio. Hubby said it was a be-lated birthday gift (my birthday was March 14th)I am so excited. I am making my list of full shade and partial shade flowers and plants. The boys

MUSIC THERAPY

"Two little girls in blue." I could hear the beautiful voice accompanied by guitar, somewhere close by.  When time permitted....in between patient care, I peeked around the corner into the next room.
A young woman sang and played, while an elderly female patient, listened enthralled.
Music pages flicked and another song chosen. "Silver threads among the gold." Now I was the one enraptured. Who was this?
Curiosity prevailed and I caught up with her as she departed.
"So do you come here often?" I queried.
She smiled sweetly, "I will from now on, I'm the Music Therapist!"
"Oh? .... so what does that entail?"
Four years full time University, I was informed.
"And...there are not enough of us!"  I wasn't surprised.

My mother-in-law suffered from alzheimers so I decided to try it on my next visit.
Laying my face close beside hers on the pillow I sang softly....
"Vola colombo bianca vola"..... She stared as though through a mist of memory.
So I sang another..
When it was time to leave I told her goodbye and kissed her cheek. She turned her face and returned the kiss with...
"Ciao Cristella bella mia."
For a brief moment the cloud in her mind parted....and understanding shone forth.
'Nothing can separate us from the love of God." Romans 8: 38-39..

A Fine St. Patrick's day and Shamrock craft

Today in honor of St.Patrick's day we read a good story book. We read A Fine St. Patrick's Day by Susan Wojciechowski, illustrated by Tom Curry. In this story, two Irish towns are engaged in an annual St. Patrick's Day decorating competition. The town of Tralah. which has always won, laughs at the town of Tralee when they say that maybe they'll win next year. The St. Patrick's day competition is

THE PRODUCT OF FEAR

My granddaughter Shiarn was experiencing fear. After fracturing her main lower leg bone (Tibia) a week ago she now needed a new evaluation by the Orthopaedic Specialist (Othopod) Her mummy was at Uni so Nanna (myself) went with her. Shiarn is just eight years old. Her pain in conjunction with her fear of the unknow now terrified her. Laying on the examination table in the plaster room she was about to have her primary caste removed and a new ligher fibreglass caste attached. The nurse commenced to cut through the sides of the plaster with a saw. Shiarn screamed and cried even after having the whole proceedure explained.....fear claimed her heart, and nothing could calm. Terror took hold with the grinding sound of the saw as she visulised it tearing through her flesh and destroying her leg.
Fear causes us to tense, it increases our heart rate and if severe, brings on Hyperventilation or the adrenal Fight Flight Response. Thankfully this didn't occur. Education, simply being told what will happen and having the reassurance of being in capable hands does much to preventing an extreme alarm.

The two nurses in attendance were marvellous...Praise God for dedication.

In Isaiah 43:1 we are reminded, " Fear not for I am with you. I have redeemed you and called you by name. You are mine.....
Today, a much happier little girl now supports a lighter caste.....And she knows, "She can do all things through Christ who strengthens her." Phillipians 4:13        Because, it is a promise from the one who loves her the most..

Week in Review for March 8 to 14, 2010

WEEK 21 in reviewThis week we started a two week study on the country Ireland. We learned about the symbols of Ireland, Music instruments (Irish Pennywhistle also known as the Tin whistle and the Celtic Harp) and the food of Ireland. We read plenty of books and did book activities such as arts and crafts. We ended our week celebrating my 45th birthday which is three days before St. Patrick's day.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

I grew up being constantly drilled, that Patience is a Virtue.
It takes strength to be patient when you are a person who likes everything done at the moment, rather than wait.
Yet to hesitate makes us appreciate, and supplies us with a humble spirit.
Other words describing patience are:
Endurance....
 Staying Power....
  Tolerance...
   Lack of complaint....
    Fortitude....
     Serenity.....

Don't we all desire to be proximal to people who display these qualities?

King David wrote, "Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait for Him to act." Psalms 37:7

Travelling around Australia and the vast area's of the outback was one time that required patience. Especially going across the Nullarbor Track. After all the stories I'd heard concerning the loneliness and isolation I wasn't looking forward to it. However, there were plenty of Roadhouses along the way, plus other travellers on the road. The Outback rule is to find a camping area before evening and stay with company for safety. Driving the long stretches of highway can cause fatigue,so you patiently, Stop and Revive to survive and make sure there is no accident from straying stock. At certain points the highway it is marked for The Flying Doctor to land. I hoped it wasn't going to be, on top of us....

Everyday life discourages patience.

HOWEVER......
To be patient generates peace and good health, both physically and mentally.

In the words of Jesus.
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you! so let not your heart be troubled." John 14:27
Rest patiently in Him.....

NYS Amaranth

I had to switch back to greens for today! One of the bars downtown hosts a St. Patty's day parade and they have green beer today, so I most definitely had to be festive. I debated between sparkles or jelly and jelly won. NYS Amaranth was a big lemming for me for while, partly because of the color and finish, and partly because of the amazing Zulu franken that Dr. Frankenpolish did. Of course shortly after buying Amaranth, Nars announced the fall return of Zulu, so no need to make my own. Works out perfectly since I love this color all on it's own! It's a bit richer in real life, it's a very true kelly green. Application was a little finicky, I got a little cuticle drag because it took longer to dry between coats than I expected, so give it some time when applying. Top coat is a must, there was almost no shine and it took a very long time to dry. Even an hour after SV I got some dents when I was putting on some lotion. This was surprisingly opaque, I could have gotten away with 2 coats but did a 3rd just got get that yummy depth that jellys give.

CARING AND SHARING

Life is good when you care and share with others.

Love is patient and kind....
Not jealous or boastful, proud or rude!
It does NOT demand its own way!
It keeps no record of wrong.
It rejoices when truth wins out.
Love never gives up, It is always faithful.
It endures through every circumstance.
1 Corinthians 13    The Bible.

How much better is the world, when we all do our part.

We interrupt our regulary scheduled greens to show you...

BLUE INDIA!

My MAC order arrived this morning exactly 7 minutes after I got out of bed. That NEVER happens to me; if shipping says 5-7 days, it always takes 7 for me, and UPS the guy never gets here before 5 pm. But MAC upgraded my shipping for free and I guess the UPS guy owed me one! I could not have been more excited... Until I put on Blue India. I love this color. Love. We are getting married. It's been raining here, and I love the rain, and this color goes with it (I think I should just start coordinating my nails to match the weather). Most people are calling this blue, and it's even in the name, but I think of it more as a moody gray that leans heavily on the blue side. But my camera doesn't feel the same way! These pictures are quite inaccurate, and I tried everything possible to show you the real deal because this polish is amazing. It's much more gray than what you're seeing.

This was my first MAC NP and I've been extremely worried about application. You know you're a polish-holic when you're MORE worried about applying a polish you haven't even gotten yet than you are about your pharmacy unit exam. It's a sickness, people. I literally sat up an extra half hour last night thinking about what I was going to do if this didn't apply well when I should have been concerned about barbiturates. All that aside, I had zero problems applying this. If not for the different brush I could have compared this to an OPI polish. The consistency was perfect and I only needed 2 coats.

Inside, no flash, under an ott light:

Outside with flash:

Are you getting Blue India? Or any of the new Rescue Beauty Lounge's? I want all 3 of them but I vowed to wait for my birthday. I think miss Ji is bluffing when she says she's running out of them!

Oh, and I got an A on the test. :D

Irish Musical Instruments: Irish Pennywhistle and Celtic Harp

This month we we are learning about Ireland as part of our St. Patrick's day theme. We are learning about the musical instruments of Ireland and today we read about the Irish Pennywhistle (also known as the Tin whistle) and the Celtic Harp. The Irish Pennywhistle (Tin Whistle) ♫♪ ♫♪The Tin Whistle or Penny Whistle is a cylindrical wind instrument, made of metal, wood, or plastic. It has used in

Just for lols

Apple has an OPI app, it's hilarious! You can "try on" any OPI color you want, as long as you don't want to see what the color actually looks like. I scrolled over to Jade is the New Black and took a quick snapshot with the REAL Jade. According to the app it's kind of a minty green. Also everything looks like a cream, there's no shimmer or glitter. I had a good laugh at Mad as a Hatter, it shows up as a cream powder blue! It's a cute idea, but based off this app I wouldn't buy any OPI. They should have made a game, like applying NP as quickly and neatly as possible... it can be a tough game lol!

About the Shamrock

This week we have been learning about the symbols of Ireland and one of the them is the Shamrock. A shamrock has three leaves joined together on one stem. Each leaf is shaped like a heart.Specifically, a shamrock is what is known as a trifoliate plant, meaning a plant upon which each individual leaf is divided into three smaller leaves, or sections, generally each of the same shape and size.

Greens #10, 9 & 8

I was trying to save my most anticipated greens for next week, but caved and put on OPI Jade is the New Black today. I was hoping it would live up to the hype, and it totally did! I can tell I'm going to be wearing this one a lot, it's the perfect dusty cream green. It applied flawlessly and was perfect in 2 coats. Also I filed down my nails yesterday, it seems like every 3 weeks my classes all pile up big papers and projects and I do a lot of typing. It's so much easier to do the work with nubbins!

It's raining out today (OMG rain! I've missed you!) so I took pictures under an Ott light. I've never done it before but this picture is completely accurate!

I swatched China Glaze Paper Chasing yesterday. I adore this color, so much so that I wore it for 4 days straight last August. But when I took it off I had terrible stains, so this is another one I'd steer clear of. If that doesn't deter you, it took 3 coats to get this and it chips easily. I was sad about this one, it was one of my most anticipated from the Kicks collection. And green #8 was butter LONDON Thames. I like it, but it's similar to the Essence I wore a few days ago, and I like the Essence much more because it's less blue. I'm swapping it away; I won't miss the color but I will miss the little square bottle... so cute!

Also MAC's Liberty of London collection came out yesterday, YAY! If you're interested in the Blue India NP you can use the code LIBERTY and get free shipping with no minimum amount. My awesome mom placed an order for me last night, along with a bunch of lipsticks I've been lemming. I'm pretty excited!

Shamrock Sun Catchers and St. Patrick's day Books

This week we are reading books about Shamrocks and St. Patrick's day. Today, we read two wonderful books.St. Patrick's Day in the Morning by Eve Bunting, illustrated by Jan Brett. It is a story about a little boy Jamie. He wants to be in the St. Patrick's Day parade, but his family has told him he's too young to make it all the way up Acorn Hill, along with everyone else in the parade. Early the

St. Patrick's day Decorations

Around here we love March, for three reasons.. The first reason is my birthday comes a three days before St. Patrick's day. Secondly, my husband is Irish and we celebrate St. Patrick's day and the third reason is Spring season begins in March.

With that in mind we started decorating our home. The boys and I made our own borders for our Calendar and added lovely green shamrocks.

We did not stop

Greens #5, 6 &7

I just put on my 7th green and I'm loving this theme month. I've been saving my greens for so long and pulling them out now is so much fun! Yesterday I put on one of the Sally Hansen HD's, Hi-Def. These came out last summer and this green was actually the start of my collection. And it was a big sad disappointment. Streaky, sheer, and so many bubbles! Also since this was the first nail polish I had worn in 8+ years, my family teased me about my "Kermit fingers". They've gotten used to my love of greens now though so it's all good. But even though I didn't like the formula on this HD, I bought another 5 colors, mostly because I didn't know where to buy other nail polish in my tiny town and I still hadn't heard about Transdesign (discovering that was like the best. day. evar.), and partly because the rainbow of 8 colors looked so cute together. Anyways, I pulled it out again yesterday to see if my feelings had changed about it.... Nope. Still hate it. This was with 4 sloppy coats.

I only wore Hi-Def for about 45 minutes before pulling out one of my new Sally Hansens, Going Green. I've never tried Xtreme Wear, but I loved it! Check out this green! I thought it was a cream and was a little disappointed when I brought it out in the sunlight at home and saw shimmer, but after wearing it I was really happy with it. This is with 2 coats. I liked the application with this, the brush was pretty wide but super manageable; this picture was taken with no cleanup! I'm such a klutz and I've never been able to stay in the lines but this polish made it easy.

I've been stalking my Walgreens and even Walmart for 10 days trying to get the new Maybelline Minty. A wonderful NBer read about my plight and offered to swap me her extra, which arrived yesterday. I just put this one on for green #7, and wow. Wow. Wow!! This is my new favorite mint! The application was maybe not as smooth as my all-time favorite, RGB Minty, but it was a lot better than 90% of my other mints. The first coat was streaky, the second evened it out a bit, but the third coat was flawless perfection. I need to go back to stalking the drugstore so I can get a back up!

I also did a quick comparison swatch but I didn't take the time to clean up as acetone is drying out my skin terribly, so please excuse the mess. Left to right is China Glaze Re-fresh Mint, Maybelline Minty, RGB Minty and Essie Mint Candy Apple. MCA doesn't really have anything to do with Minty, but it seems like everyone has MCA so it's a good one for comparison.

I'd also like to let you all know that in addition to being a klutz with nail polish, I'm totally forgetful. Wonderful reader Isa asked me who the winner of my Who Loves Purple? giveway was and I realized I completely forgot to post the wrap up! Reader Caitlin, who is new to nail polish, won 3 awesome purples to expand her collection. Congrats, Caitlin!

I'm planning on doing another giveway sometime in April and was planning on doing a theme of my newest obsession, coral. But since YOU guys are the one winning polish, I'll let you decide! Vote in the poll on the sidebar for which color family you'd like to win! I'm also accepting write-in votes, leave a comment on this post with your suggestion.

AMAZING MAIL

In the valley's back of beyond where I live there are mailbox's to delight the Postie's ride. Awaiting a letter with anticipation from a loved one is fast becoming a memory. We are a faster world with emails replacing and making the other, obsolete. As a country girl I grew up having to walk over a mile to the local postoffice to collect the post. What a joy to find a personal handwritten letter. They were kept, treasured and re-read. I had two Penpals, one in Japan named Hiroko and one in Texas named Mary. I still possess those letters... written so long ago.
And stamp collecting. We'd moon over the pages of beautiful designs from distant lands. Swapping and bargaining for the one sort-after was a thrill. Will that all soon become just a recollection from the past? ....probably!
So start keeping letters and you'll have a piece of history to pass on, when they are only a vague memory.
All photo's are original .....enjoy.
