Back to one of the things I love

After motherhood, I gave up alot of things in the form of hobbies and interests. One thing long gone is my extensive Barbie doll collection. When I met my hubby I had over 400+ dolls including a few that I customized. I enjoyed making doll clothes for my collection too. I learned how to sew by hand from my older sister "D." I was quite good at it.I used to draw and paint often since I was a child

Book Sharing Monday: The Empty Pot

Today we are sharing of our favorite books. It is called "the Empty Pot" by Demi. This book is a perfect story to teach young children the value of telling the truth, no matter what that truth may be. We first heard this story on an episode of "In between the Lions" years ago and we have always enjoyed the story. Summary:Demi's tale is set in ancient China. A wise emperor is growing old and must

Our Weather Bear (and how you can make your own!)

My youngest is learning about the seasons and so far we have been using our Seasonal Tree that I made. I wanted to help my child learn about the weather too and in addition to making a weather chart, I made a weather bear.I wanted the weather bear to teach my youngest son about the weather and what clothing we wear on certain weather days. Week in Review for Sept. 14 -18 (Brown Bear, geography)

WEEK 4 in reviewThis week we are still trying to get into a regular routine. With last week's trials of fire, family and flooding, I am behind in housekeeping and staying on schedule of what I had planned in our lessons.

I could not let it it get to me...besides the events that occurred last week were things we had not control over. With that being said, we are going to continue and not worry

Week in Review for Sept. 7-11 (Family visit)

WEEK 3 in reviewThis third week was a little different as there had been a series of events with our family. On Monday, we had a fire in our home. Our dryer got fire and DH used a fire extinguisher to put it out. We were blessed that the fire was contained and our laundry room suffered little damage if any. So for now we are washing clothing by hand and taking towels and bedding to a laundry mat

Sunday 13th Sept 09, A Blessed Day

What a joy to sing and praise the Lord! To come into His house with thanks giving in my heart knowing I am loved and accepted. He is a great God, none can compare to Him. My mind boggles at how anyone can worship a dead God.... My God is alive and there for me 24/7... what blessed reassurance. And His Word.... it is a constant joy... and continually feeds with more living manna. So, today I rejoice in Jesus my Lord and Savour. For when I am weak, He is strong. Who could possibly want a perfect life? Problems hurt yet they are necessary. Why do I write this? Because I am constantly saying, "Lord I can't take any more." Yes....He is strong, when I am weak. Praise His Holy Name!

Week in Review for Aug. 31 - Sept. 4

WEEK 2 in reviewWe entered our second week and it seems only Mom has momentum to homeschool. The boys have been wanting to sleep late after the weekends so I am reinforcing limits on bedtime and playtime.

I believe part of the reason is that DH is home so the boys have their adult playmate for the next two weeks . Now it feels like I have three boys to contend with instead of two.

Turtle's

File Folder Games (you can make)

pictured above a teddy bear math file folder game I made for my sonFor years as a homeschooler, I have tried to find fun ways to teach early math concepts as well as phonics. In my opinion, file folder games and pocket charts are great tools for teaching in addition to hands on learning activities.Today, I'll talk about File Folder Games. If you can never made a file folder game, don't worry
