Sepia Saturday Sisters

It's funny looking back on old photos.
In this one I am carrying a Kodak flash camera, which was quite the thing in those days.
My sister Jan had taken me on a trip to Melbourne, the State below where we lived in New South Wales.
My other elder sister was completing her post graduate in midwifery in a hospital in that State.
It was Easter and the three of us we had a wonderful time exploring.
I loved and looked up to both of my big sisters.
Neither of them ever made me feel I was too young to be with them.
I was fourteen in these photos.

Once you marry life changes, to leave these times as cherished memories.

Homeschool Village: Refresh

I read about this last week. Stef at Layton Family Joy started a Homeschool Village Blog fair. The purpose for a Homeschool Village is to bring homeschoolers together to share and encourage. This week's topic is: What do you - homeschool mom - do to get refreshed for the next school year? For me refreshing myself for the new homeschool year never used to bother me because I did not feel the need to

Heroines of Christ

We all have people we look up to and desire to be like. The memory of three women remain encased in my mind.
My first heroine was the writer Catherine Marshall. Catherine became famous with her second book, "A Man called Peter."
She wrote the story in honour of her famous husbands life.
Peter Marshall was a preacher in the United States Senate.
He died at a relatively young age. Catherine was devistated yet necessity demanded she earn a living to provide for her son Peter John.
Many have come to the Lord through her books.
Her message to me was, "Never Give Up.

Quoting Catherine:
"No matter how little you have. You can still give some away."

My second treasured lady was Corrie Ten Boom.
When my mother gave me the book, "The Hiding Place,"  I wanted none of it. Such sadness!
It told of Corrie Ten Boom and her Dutch family.
During World War11 they took in, protected and hid Jewish families, helping many to escape to safety.
Due to this, the family were sent to dreaded Auschwitz.
Only Corrie survived to return home.
Yet through the terror and pain I discovered....
This lady's ability to forgive and love others.
She taught that, until the day she died.

Quoting Corrie,
"If you look at the world you will be distressed.
If you look within you'll be depressed.
If you look to God, you'll be at rest."

My third Jewel needs no introduction.
She was Mother Teresa. The devine light who walked the earth in splendid charity.
I watched a movie on her life as acted by Geraldine Chaplin, Charlie's daughter.
It was an eye opener of self denial....and a life devoted to others.
She was the hands, feet and mouth of Our Lord.
From her I learned, "Humility, Wisdom and Selflessness.

Quoting Mother Teresa,
"When a person dies of hunger it did not happen because God did not take care of them.
It happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what they needed."

Myself, "Being a Christian doesn't depend on attending meetings, but rather on loving and serving others. Walk the walk!"

Chiro-Care Slows the Aging Process!

Once more...the POWER of Chiropractic Spinal Adjustments is revealed! Firstly, six months ago we heard the news that a study showed that the patient experienced an "Immune Burst" within 30 to 45 minutes of an adjustment. What happens is that their immune system releases 10,000 antibodies into their blood stream to heighten their defences and fight off any foreign bug wanting set up shop. An amazing finding!

Now comes something even more fantastic. A research project has shown that regular WELLNESS CARE patients can now be assured that they will be growing old gracefully. Those patients who saw the logic in regular spinal maintenance care can now gloat over those patients who have foolishly only used chiropractic care as a patch-up and left after their symptoms had gone only to gradually get worse over time.

After more than two years of testing an article published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research "shows that chiropractic care boosts important chemicals in the body's DNA repair process to levels higher than those in all other non-chiropractic people." The same article also states that after a year or more of care, irrespective of gender, age or vitamin supplementation, DNA repair improved. Think about this. This profound anti-aging finding will affect your longevity and subsequently the quality of your whole life!
In their book entitled 7 Things Your Doctor Forgot to Tell You, authors Siper and Lew quote Dr Bruce Lipton (a leading pioneer in the New Biology and Epigenetics) regarding this amazing finding.

He said, "While I wholeheartedly endorse allopathic medicine in dealing with trauma or exchanging body parts, I have come to realize that preventive medicine, in the form of good health care, is not forthcoming. Why? Because medicine perceives us as frail biochemical robots programmed by our genes. This is definitely not true. In contrast the philosophy of chiropractic honours the body's own innate intelligence that controls the physiology and gene expression. By recognizing the role of the nervous system over the operation of the body, the chiropractic approach offers us profound, non-pharmacological insight into how to live a happy and happy life."

The way I see it....we should rejoice that there is this long-standing profession in our midst (since 1895) that will insure our future longevity and well being by having our aging DNA being repaired and enhanced as we go about our business of living. Now we can say that Chiropractic truly adds life to years...and years to life!

What my child is reading this week for June 1 to 5, 2010

On Tuesday we started our study on Kenya, one of the many nations in the continent of Africa. We read several books on Kenyan life and history as well as some African (Kenyan) tales. The boys may not have been as interested in the books on Kenyan history or Culture that were factual but they did enjoy the selection of Children's pictures books that we had on hand to read this week (some of which

Queenslands my Home.

Just thought I'd share with you where I live.
Sun sea and sky. Pineapple, avocado, mango and paw paw plantations.
School children are up early and down surfing before breakfast, then home again to don uniforms and head off to school. Its an outdoor life, shoeless with zinc spread over the nose for sun protection.
I just read the other day that the lack of Vitamin D is becoming a problem from too much cover-up protection.
Lack of Vitamin D results in early onset osteoporosis.
The beautiful Pacific ocean with crystal clear waters beckons the body boarder to surf the waves.
Welcome to my little part of the world.
